Well I know VA-ing is not my area, but this is only a suggestion anyway. >w> And if everyone agrees with this, I'll move this thread to the staff forum.
This suggestion is for VAs. I think VAs didn't post much progress in the staff forum so.. (not saying you guys are not doing anything tho. >_>)

Well basically I suggest accepted VAs not yet assigned with a character to post your redo's and takes in this thread so that everyone (especially critics) can review them and comment. Since your VA audition topics were moved to accepted thread and locked, you need a place to post new stuff right? Then it will be easier to select which character for you in the future. It will be good for practice too and keeps you busy and prevents you from forgetting this project.

Those assigned with a character should open a new topic for your character (I prefer only the main characters though) so it's more organised and such.
I know we said VAs can post redo's in staff forum already, but there's nothing much in the VA staff forum now. >.> So um, VA head and vice heads, maybe you should start first? set an example for your teammates. >w> It's fun to hear them~

This is awesome Ezu! Nice idea! But...what do you mean open a topic for your character? (Are you saying I should open a new topic for Green should I want to do Green redos, for example or what?) I'd be happy to try some other characters, seeing as I haven't done any in a while. But it's going to be a week or so...college is really tying me up at the moment, lol.

Oh, I get it! That's a great idea, ezu!

But...you're saying that people who are not assigned, should post in this thread, and people who are assigned make a new topic?

And what if the assigned person wants to try put for new characters? Should they post in this thread, or make a new topic?

lol I'm really bad at explaining. >A> sorry..

well yes, what chuck and mr tweet said is correct. If you want to try a new character, just post in this thread. If you are assigned to a minor character though (like random kids and pokemon), better post them here..

And also, as compliments and praises are good, it's better if to not post much of them. well if you don't have any critique it's better to not reply I think. So that the thread will not be cluttered. Since they are staff VAs obviously they are good. XD (that means I won't post much in this thread after this >w>) You can look at their redo's, but better to post only tips and critiques here. Smile

...But do you guys prefer one topic for every staff? Like in the audition forum?

I'm not sure if I understand your idea ezu ...*shot*

I know for critiques, what I've mostly done is record my lines for the episode, put them in a zip file and send them via PM or skype to the critiquers who then critique the lines and then side it back to me and I redo them. I've done this for myself as well as being on the receiving end from Tweetums, Sai, and WhattheChuck. This worked really well, I felt, especially when we discussed lines over Skype. It felt more personal to me.

I'm a little leery of posting progress for the VAs =/ I feel like it's revealing too much, but then again, the staff area is only open to staff, so that could work. Hrm...Maybe there could be a tread for each main character as well as a general one-shot character thread. These threads would show teasers of some of the lines from each character. These might be like the final critiquing stage, after the critiquers listened to the auditions and the VA did redos, they could then post those redos in this thread. What is posted could either be all the lines in the episode or just a mash-up of some of the bigger/more impactful lines of that episode, just to make sure the character is going in the right direction. If the approval of the staff is generally postive, then the lines will all be sent to the mixer. This might slow down production, though...

Anyway, I wouldn't sneeze at a database type area where accepted VAs could post something similar to a demo reel that shows improvement from when the auditions were accepted (I know I've definitely improved, and gotten a new mic!), as well as the range of the VA. It would also help to keep who all is on the VA team in one spot so it would be easier to cast people for the one-shot or smaller character parts.

I hope that all made sense >.> The more I process this idea, though, the more I like it =]

You don't have to take my idea too seriously. You're one of the vices after all. XD

My suggestion is for minor roles actually. Skype critiques are the best of course, but there are time zone problems and such. I'm just adapting aki's new way of giving us the task files. >w>

Well um basically I agree with what you have said, so no worries. XD I know I'm bad at explaining. >w> sorry I confused you.

But you know there are main characters that are not decided yet right? especially like Blue, who is quite popular in auditions. Some of the accepted VAs are really good, but have no major roles yet. What I suggested earlier was for VAs that might suit main characters, but the characters are not yet casted. So um, they have no where to post their redo's. >_> Should we have a topic for each main character, and all VAs can try for the character in the character thread? (except for casted character of course, like red and green. only Kam and chuck should post their demo's there if they want to.)

ugh I think I made it confusing again. >_> You can take this idea however you want it of course. You guys are the vices right? XD

Actually I think I understand what your saying...It could be that we could make new topics for which characters we knew we needed auditions for, and have the various VAs post their auditions for the character in such a form. Does that make any sense? (for instance, say we need an Oak or Blue, but we only have two auditions, so we could post a topic in our hypothetical thread asking for Oak auditions and have them placed there for organizations sake). Also, I think the demo reel dirks pointed out is a great idea, as it really helps when selecting the minor roles.

well yep that's right chuck~ ^^

So what should we do with this topic? move it to VA forum and VAs can start posting minor roles here, or make a new topic for that, and lock this one?
Your choice. >w>

Damn I'm so late on this one...argh!

*reads Through every post*

Yuh huh...Mhm...yup...I see. Great! Yeah I can really see this working! However I'm against putting everything into one thread, as it'll just get messed up and it'll be difficult to navigate through to get the stuff you want from a particular character/user. Especially so as when you have new redos but you've already posted before, you have to do it in a new post so it gets noticed because editing doesn't update the thread technically...

But for seperate characters, even just for minor ones/Pokemon, having a new thread for each of them in the VA forums would be good and then the VAs can do ONE POST with all their takes/auditions/redos and update accordingly. We'll have a deadline before the topic's locked (yes I think it's the only way it'll work since we're choosing the roles as we go and it can fit in for the episode a month we're all hoping for)
Anyways, after the deadline is closed, then we form a poll on the character with the most recent redos from each auditionee which auditioned and choose accordingly. This to me seems like it'll work if we're going through the roles as we come to them in terms of episodes. And with characters which have officially decided VAs, we can lock/delete (delete due to the sheer numbers of characters/Pokemon) the thread with that character and move on.

What I think would be even better is if we just have those character-per-threads for VAs to post redos, the critics won't critic them there on the thread at all and let them try on their own. I think it would be best if we only critic them in their first ever auditions to help them get in, and then critic them again when they've got the role and we help them go through the lines. Otherwise the work overload will just get too much I think.

Of course, this should only be for the ACCEPTED auditionees for the VAs, therefore the people we know can all act/sing/voice properly. Newbie Auditionees trying out for characters can be continued as usual - them trying out for characters they want to do and from that we decide whether they can do the job properly. Then they do a proper audition for the character within the staff forums.

It may seem like a bit of a roundabout method, but at least then we can silfer the good from the bad before it gets too late. I mean, otherwise the VA forums may as well be open to the public then. We need the best VAs we can find I think. It may be picky, but do have quality as our goal don't we?

Hm, even for minor roles? Like random kid, random pokemon that appear only once? We will have tons of locked thread then..

Yeah, the idea of all the locked thread is bothering me...

Maybe each VA could have their own thread and then the forum itself coud have a sticky that links back to each audition. So, as an example, I would have my thread with all of my auditions, demo reels, range examples, etc. And then there would be a sticky at the top of the VA forum area that would have a list of all the characters and who auditioned for them with links to those auditions.

ex:
Blue
-dirksies
-kazaazz
-random person 1
-random person 2
..and so on

(I'm not sayihg that's who acutally auditioned for those characters, just as an example)

And then each name would have a link to that person's thread or even directly to their audition file. This would require someone who was active to monitor that area a lot and make sure the sticky was updated, but it could work... Just a thought

Hm, good idea, dirks. But I don't quite agree with it.. Updating sticky thread is really tedious. D:

One thread for each main character, that can really work.

However for minor roles, how about a thread for each.. type (?) of character?
Like children, old people, teen girls, teen boys, each have separate thread. something like that?

Yeah, thinking again my idea probably really would only work for main, reccuring characters. For one-shots or random people/Pokemon it's hard to know what to do...Oh! I know! (gotta love brainwaves) We could have a single thread for that episode, have someone list all the random characters/whatever as the first post for auditioning, then anyone who wants to audition can just put their all their stuff there! So it'll be a compilation of all the one-shots for that episode, dealt with at once. Of course, I think it should be a post per user again though...saves cluttering.

Of course, if we do a new thread purely for an episode and have everyone do the auditions they want to do for the new characters that appear in that episode, it could work that way too and there'll be a lot fewer locked threads. Maybe just for the recurring main characters we could have the poll after? For the oneshots characters it would seem a bit tedious to have a poll, so maybe the critics or the viceheads/head could decide amongst themselves.

I like that idea, kaz. But having a poll for all the minor or one-shot character might be a little much. I think Kam, wtc, and I could just decide on those, otherwise it would take a long time. Other than that, yeah, that sounds good.

I think your episode topic idea would work well, kazaazz!

It makes sense, and may also solve the cluttering problems.

But of course, it's my opinion!

Well I still think the one topic per character would be the easiest way, since we could easily list everyone who auditioned for said character and quickly have access to such a list for polling. For minors, we could do a single thread of demo reels, separated by each VA (at the moment there aren't many of us accepted, so it wouldnt be too cluttered as long as it was one post per VA). Just a thought.

Right now we are still working on episode 1 anyway, so I think Kaz's idea is great. ^^ Have a thread for one-shot characters of one episode, and the VA head and vices can decide. I guess since everyone agreed, I'll lock this topic~
and dear VA vices, can you make the episode 1 minor character topic? (I can but I don't even know what a demo reel is >A>)

and chuck, we will have one thread per character for main roles. ^^
