Copyright Infringement
I'm starting to get a little worried.
I seriously think we should contact the creators before
we actually go through with it.
And I know what you're thinking, 'How are we supposed to ask?
I can't speak Japanese.' Well, I can translate for you. And my friend
can help too hopefully.
And I know you are also thinking, 'How are we to contact them?'
The answer lies in research. I think we should research how to contact them
by mail or email.
Maybe we have to pay in order to go through with it. If we do then we should raise money to
do so. It's better than being sued or having a tainted record.
Or we can just tell them that in the end this project can actually get them more money since we
are actually doing work for them for free.
(But then again, child labor laws and junk get into play)
But in all seriousness, this is a cool project that I would love to partake in but I really REALLY don't want
to get sued and have a tainted record. And I bet none of you would want it either.

What hope is that this project will catch the eye of someone who make anime and then there we be a official pokespe anime.
However you bring up alot of good points.
This is something that we need to think about.

Re: Copyright Infringement - DENIED
We've already had a discussion about this, and we decided that we will not approach VIZ, Nintendo, or any other copyright/license holders and we will instead attribute all of the holders and makers of pokemon and pokespecial entirely and completely. We will make sure to step on as few toes as possible, and we will only start a real effort on advertising after we've gotten a significant amount of episodes animated, most likely the first arc.
And also, I sincerely doubt anybody but VIZ media in America will take any negative stands on this at all. In japan, fan works such as this are highly supported, such as doujinshi and everything. Nintendo probably wont even notice us, and if they do, I doubt they'll care a wink so long as we stay non-profit, make everything ourselves as we plan to, attribute correctly, and appear to be having a fun time. Copyright laws aren't the huge issue in Japan as they are in America.
VIZ would be the only company we would need to worry about, and again, so long as we properly attribute, stay none-profit, and don't tread on too many toes, nothing will happen. And don't worry about being sued. Nobody is going to sue a group of mostly minors that is spread throughout the world so diversely it would just be insane and stupid to get the court involved, on the offense of making a fan anime. At worst, we'll get a 'cease and desist' from VIZ.
I mean really, though, think about it. We have about 10 people in america, that's it. We've got people in France, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, England, Australia, and many more. If anybody wanted to sue us, they'd get other countries involved for something really stupid and trivial. >.>;
Here's the old thread, by the way: https://pokespeanime.forumotion.com/problems-and-issues-f3/copyright-t89.htm

Joy-joy's a nice name! There's no problem with it. (I want a Nickname! ...Tweety?)
But yeah, it's already been discussed. Just hope for the best and keep moving forward with progress.
Maybe this thread should be closed? I dunno.
