Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
It allows people to relate to them better. It's the same reason they give vocaloids "personalities".

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
Yep, what razor said.
And also some people celebrate their birthdays. I've seen entire threads dedicated to a "happy birthday Crys!" on serebii.
And the blood types...probably because of the matching bloodtype; romance typa thing...I don't really pay attention to that...
Yeah, so it's just to add more personality to the characters. So it feels like you really know them.

I see a lot of those on pixiv:) When a dex holder birthday comes up it usually gets filled up with pictures.
@Razor-Leaf
My birthday is right before Red's though, almost coincidental

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
The reason characters have birthdays is because it's an important part of their character. ;3 Blood types are especially important to the Japanese, because they pay a lot of attention to blood types and personalities. When a character has a birthday, you can make it so that it adds to their character- their zodiac sign, or what time of the year they were born in...the same kind of thought goes into names generally, too.
Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
Dirksies: they were at the FRLG/E chapters. At the end of each chapter it would give some data 'bout 'em. (hometown, birthday, personality, blood type, etc.)
I remember seeing them at the end of the chapters at mangafox too, so you mustve seen 'em! (right? Maybe I'm wrong...)

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
Anyway, Sai, just to let you know, this is the kind of thread I was hoping wouldn't be made in this forum. ^.^; Discussion in this kind of thread can't go on for long and it just clutters things up. I would appreciate it if you guys made fewer topics that we can talk on for a longer amount of time. =3 That way, it's actually like....a social discussion, not like just 'make a topic about a question and then having it be answered and then dieing and cluttering up the forum'. ^.^;
Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
I think that's one of the reason we didn't want a subforum in the first place. Honestly speaking I don't see anything wrong with just a social communication thread..

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?

Rivals are younger...Green is younger than Red; Silver is younger than Gold and Sapphire is younger than Ruby lol.
Girls are older...Blue is older than Red and Green and Crys is older than Gold and Silver.
Not sure about the DPPt trio though.

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
Two of my friend have Green, Emerald, Silver, and Red, and mine is closest to Blue, her's being June 1st and mine being the 14th.
The DPPt trio are the youngest of the bunch right now, still being 13.
I think it would be cool if all 13 of the dex holders get together during HGSS, but I doubt it...

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
@Alexie82818 It would be odd to see a 19 year old Red and Green and a 20 year old Blue, but maybe the others will meet the DPPt trio.

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
Mhm, I think that the HG/SS arc will be the last time we see the original Dexholders, as it seems the most likely arc where everyone'll gather. Hell, it might even be the finale of the manga considering the way that B/W/ is almost resetting the franchise by redesigning the Nurse Joys, putting the routes back to 1, having Isshu REALLY far away from the other regions. I mean this manga can't last forever because then the plot will suffer. But I'm sure Hidenori Kusaka will think of something
Back on topic, my birthday is 5 days before Pearl's! Guess not many people have their birthday in February huh?

Re: Why do anime and manga characters have birthdays?
At least Green does appear in HGSS (hawt much? LOL), and I believe Red and Blue will follow...sometime later. I'm still sorta confused about the timeslot of HGSS, though; does it overlap with Platinum or does it occur after Platinum?
Prolly we'll see them all together for another timeif when R/S is remade into the 3DS, non? </hope> :>w<:
Onto the topic...wow, mine is nine days before Pearl's. Tee-hee.
