Pokemon Game Discussion

Here we go. Let's talk about the games from the old to new. Today for the first topic is Red, Blue, Yellow, & Green (Japan).

First question: How's everyone been doing on the game? I'm still training on Yellow until I get the Soul Badge.

I beat Yellow already, isn't Yellow the only version that actually features anime characters? Because I found out Yellow is the only game that has Jesse and James in it. I think it's Ash in this one too since it has the same story with Pikachu.

Yellow is still, to this date, my favorite Pokémon game. It was my first one; I got it with the pikachu game boy color. I also loved the idea of Pikachu following you around which was amazing in HGSS [and I wish it was a part of BW]. It was also the first video game I ever beat in my life and the only time I ever had a level 100 pokémon. I was able to raise my Pikachu that high. Then I accidentally erased the game and had the worst temper tantrum a nine year old could have. And then I lost the cartridge when a friend borrowed it and lost it at school.

I recently played it on the emulator trying to use Ash's animé team [Pikachu, Butterfree, Pidgeotto, Bulbasaur, Charizard, Squirtle]. I couldn't beat it with that team. No wonder he failed so much in the show [not hatin' on Ash. I'm actually a huge fan].

Haha same here, but I beat it..I just leveled them all to 80 on wild pokemon and taught them all the hardest moves.

I always do that on level based games.

I played Red first...but Silver is to me the most memorable. Got everything lvl 100 too. Could never catch Ho-Oh though so I just killed it and saved. XD Pretty childish. Course I got the Lugia to lvl 100 but because of that I only mangaed to get 246 in the Pokedex...so tantalizingly close!

Excellent. Now we're getting somewhere.

I guess for me, I got Yellow as a Christmas present in 2000. I couldn't beat Brock first because he was tense, but it took me a while and had Mankey help me. I was stupid to raise only one Pokemon through so many battles. But somehow in the past, I was able to beat the Elite Four and my rival with Pikachu, Primeape, Articuno, & Nidoking. So many tense battles.

Wow same for me, my parents bought it for me as a surprise. I kept hitting New Game because Brock annoyed me and I always got lost in Mt. Moon. I was only 5 then so I was really stupid when I played it xD

Hmm, good idea . . .

My first game was Silver, so i got little to say about these. I played Yellow on an emulator and got about halfway to Celadon, then my computer got some virus or other .... need to get back to that someday. I think I'll use Ash's team, then, but replacing pidgeotto/pidgeot with Primeape (it's cooler and too much flying). Shame no abilities, since Butterfree + Compoundeyes + Sleep Powder is fun (I have Butterfree on SS, where I have 3 flying types lol).

Annnd, I love the whole Pikachu follows you, although it's not that cool in itself. I love it because of what they did in HGSS which made me barely ever use my bike! It was soooo cool ... but tehy got rid of it after >_>

I think the whole pokemon following you in HGSS was to promote the poke-walker, or vice versa.

Pretty much that. Mind you the Pokewalker was a nice add on, that was until it ran out of battery and my Suicune was still on there...mumble mumble.

Cant you replace battery? Just unscrew the back of it.

With what exactly? It's not like it runs on AA batteries that I can buy easily.

You cant go to a store to get them? O.o I replace the batteries in my watch and lazer light all the time. When I removed the back of the poke-walker to add the clip, I think I saw that it takes something like these(Probably a little smaller than that but really similar):

Ouch. Kazaazz, that must have sucked. That's the reason why I don't use those because I didn't try one.

Finding those battery chips in some of the stores that sell batteries shouldn't be that difficult. AG13 Button Cell is it? Buy the chips, put them in your Poke Walker, and get Suicune back.

The S in laser comes from 'Stimulated', and you can;t change that to 'ztimulated'.

That is, assuming you meant laser.

Oh man! Brock in Yellow is, in my opinion, the toughest gym leader. Unless you got a Mankey that knows low kick, you're done for. hahaha. I managed to level up my Butterfree and taught it confusion so I just barely won but still.

Don't be so picky Memie, the semi-colon is pretty close to the apo-...*fail English moment so checks dictionary*...apostrophe after all.

And Goddess, I bet everyone up until the point where they could catch an Abra in the Route north of Cerulean has a tough time (Even though that's still as useless until it evolved but LO the Hidden Power TM! But either way, you've GOT to catch a Pikachu in Viridian Forest, no matter how many hours you spend wandering! My team for Brock was Charmander, Butterfree, Pidgey and Pikachu. Always. Butterfree was the ace. And if I had spent a long time in the forest, Charmander may have learnt Metal Claw. Or not.

Technically, those drawings aren't mine. It's another PokeSpe spoof from some anime ending. I love doing easy tedious things, don't ask why. I just took 43 screenshots of every frame of the video, cropped them all one by one and stuck them in flash editing the size and time line accordingly. It's kinda easy xD I just really loved that scene with Blue and Silver falling. I had to have it as a gif so I made one

The reason I didn't have it was because I think I edited it too soon and flood control took over somehow erasing it for that one post.

You're not hating on Ash!?
But you're SUPPOSED to hate on Ash, he's stupid and fails hard.

Also, the character that you use in Yellow is most certainly not Ash, he is Red(Don't care if he was called Yellow in the game, he's still Red).
It's easy to tell Ash and Red apart.
The biggest difference is that Red never talks, and Ash never shuts up.

Okay, okay. Let's change topics. How about Gold, Silver, & Crystal? I think the RBGY is a little crazy about Red, Ash, & Yellow.
