PokeSpecial Show Auditions

PokeSpecial Special Show Auditions

Okay, ladies and gents, here's how it's gonna go down. We have 3 characters in need of voices, and YOU have the opportunity to voice one of them. Since it's only 3 characters, and we aren't expecting as many auditions as we get for the main characters, all auditions will be posted in this thread, and the parts to be given out at the end. The character profiles can be found here. If you are auditioning for the characters, we are looking for the following;

Auditions for the main characters are OVER.

Sorry, but we are no longer accepting auditions for the main 3 characters. However, if you would like to do some random walla lines for us, please, feel free to submit them in this thread.

For All Auditions:
- Please try not to link through Adfly. They've begun using surveys to check for bots (lord knows why) that prevent us from seeing your audition. You wouldn't want a missed audition because of that, now would you?
- If at all possible, it would be best to link through using Youtube, 4shared, or something that can be linked to directly or uploaded.
- If possible, try to do multiple takes of each line to try and convey a different emotion.
- As just a reminder, if we do not accept you, we may find you useful for a background role, so stay in touch!

I'm not interested in this taking forever to decide who voices who, lets give this about a 1 week. Note: This is to get the project rolling, if no suitable audition are found then we can talk about deadline extensions.

Next Wednesday the 13th all auditions will close and will be put too a poll to see who is picked for the role.

Indeed. If possible, we'd like to get this one out quickly, since it's a short one.

Now, for Jonk's audition.

The microphone quality sounded a little rough. Are you using a pop filter? If not, you can make one for cheap by pulling some pantyhose over a bent clothes hanger.

As for the voice itself, the pitch matches quite nicely with the character, but your voice sounds rather flat and emotionless. He's not always brooding. He can be surprised, raging, happy, melancholy... try to do multiple takes with a broader range of emotions. It also sounds a bit like you're whispering when you do this voice. I don't know if it's the way you do the voice, or the mike, or your conditions, but you need to speak loud and clear when voicing a character.

Not a bad audition, but I think you can improve it.

Yup I agree. If you could be a little louder and little less angry. Perhaps just laid back?

Nope, but I can make a crappy one / use Audacity to chop the tops off.

I felt that in those 4 lines he was brooding, but sure, I see what you mean after I listened to it again. The whispering... that's just my voice... but I can fix that through being very loud lol (or I'll pump it up using audacity).

Okay, new audition from Jonk.

You still sound very unclear, and there's a lot of air getting into your mic. The Pop filter will solve that, or you can back up from your mic, or talk to the side of it to prevent it from picking up airflow. Audacity can only do so much on its own. Make sure you don't do too much noise removal as well, because that can mess with your actual lines (which would be VERY BAD).

I also felt your lines were a little hasty, and the enunciation was a bit difficult to make out, particularly in the second line (the word "should" was barely audible in most of them because of this). Slow it down, and focus on making each word clear and audible.

On the upside, you weren't whispering that time, which helped a lot with volume and clarity.

I did use a pop filter this time so that don't make much sense... I was hasty but that's just laziness on my part + my Newfie accent.
Lol your right about the "should", I never even noticed it until you pointed it out...

It sounds like you're trying not to be loud. As if you're trying not to wake somebody. XD
Or maybe it's just me...

You voice, it sounded familiar. I can't put my finger on it but you set up to three types of your voice.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking too, but my voice isn't very high. I thought I might as well take a shot at it =]

It's not so much about your pitch as it is your mood. Violet is an incredibly "bubbly" character. The kind of character who acts so cute that you just wanna punch her to make her be less adorable. Take a look at some of the characters in various cartoons, shows, and anime, and look at the bubbly characters. Note just how much cute they put in their voices, and then try it out for yourself. (These characters are often very young, and younger than the main character.) A good example would be Akira Kogami from Lucky Channel (when she isn't pissed at the world).
