How should the Pokedex and its sprites be? And how do we communicate the Pokedex message? Multiple answers option has been activated to save time.
Re: Pokédex display
Hmm...27 votes. And cause there's 3 categories, it means probably only 9 people voted so far.

28 votes now. I doubt it's only 9 people because I don;t think all people chose one from each category.

Oh never mind I get about the sprites thing and I get how the voting system works too. But to another question. Will we use this feature for eye catches?

Oh man! Good point video-- we were thinking about doing the pokedex as the eye-catchers. >w< But I think we were planning on doing trainers, which would mean we'd just draw a picture of a trainer, so we wouldn't have to worry about the sprites.

Re: Pokédex display
Not that this has anything to do with it, but it was bugging me...the yellow sprites are seen in the yellow chapter, during the flashback fight between Red and Bruno (and the little bit in between with the onix) and Yellow did have a pokedex...it was just Red's.
Sorry, now that that's out of the way. I really like that second page of sprites Sai posted. And I for one am for a non talking dex...sorry, I think that the reason Akii posted was a good point, but the whole talking pokedex thing just seems a little lame to me...(sorry, I'm not an anime fan, at least not since I was a kid) Dexholders reading it might work, but I don't know...maybe the best way to tell is to do it both ways and see which works best...but that's probably a lot more work on a lot more people...but it's just a suggestion. Sorry its so long, lol.

haha, it's okay, I'm fine with either, just stating the points and such and my opinions are not law, so it's good that everyone has their opinions on this^^ And besides, I don't just throw out opinions, i listen too, and you guys have convinced me;D I voted for trainers verbalizing words indirectly, in case anyone wants to know, lol.

I prefer trainers as well. Not just trainers but all characters. Like what they do on FMA Brotherhood.
As for this pokedex feature. I just realized this. Why not just have the text on with no sound from the pokedex? I mean the watchers can read all the text anyways. Its just like the game, we have the pokemon cry and just text of its info. And the sprites, why not just the mato style just like on the manga?

Re: Pokédex display
@videofan: But this is a continuous story, not a game. There would be issues with continuity of the plot. It would disrupt the flow if we show the screen and pokemon suddenly like the games in the middle of the fight.

Not really cause Red could take out his pokedex and that display comes up. He looks at it for 2 seconds or so just like he's reading a note/a book. Plus special is closer to the games and the manga displays the those settings as well.

Re: Pokédex display
have you considered reading time? 2 seconds isn't alot for those who really wants to read them, if they had to pause it there to read it makes even less sense because once to pause to read the tension that the previous scenes had built up will be for naught since the audience already lost the sense of excitement when pausing to read the text.
what I mean is that the description shouldnt take up the whole screen like what it does in the games, that would disconnect the story and all, if it's as a more side thing it would be better because the story is still going on when the pokedex flashes its information.

Re: Pokédex display
Aki, you have a point. 2 seconds is not enough to read. (unless you're a fast reader)
but I don't really think that it'll disrupt the story...

I only used the 2 second part as an example. Of course it would be longer. But anyways I'll let you guys decide what's best.

Re: Pokédex display
That second sprites sheet I posted I can't fine a another one with 150 pokemon like that and can't make something like that. So we are better off doing redrawn (pixelated) 1st gen sprites or wait untell someone comes that can do sprites like that.
Re: Pokédex display
It's been a few is sine I last posted here so this is not a double post.
Sorry it's look so long but I'm lazy
Here the poll result
Pokedex: first gen display
Sprites: 1st gen sprites redrawn (pixelated)
There was a tie between 1st gen sprites redrawn (pixelated) and updated 1st gen sprites. But thinks we'er better out using redrawn (pixelated) 1st gen sprites.
Sound: trainers read the pokedex and verbalize it indirectly
The thread need to be Sticky

Re: Pokédex display
it's a tie for sprites.
and i dont think i want to go for redrawing. :/ that'll increase work and +pixelated. D: pixel art takes patience and is not easyyy DD:

It's not a tie.
You missed Stellar_Rose's post:
Since she accidentally didn't click those when she voted. So redrawn sprites won by one vote.

Nol is right Stellar_Rose didn't know that she was supposed to choose one from each category. So Sprites: 1st gen sprites redrawn wins.
All we really need to do for the sprite is drew them by hand and MSpaint to pixelated them like I have in this pic.
