Re: Japanese Language
I think that's because English is the most complicated language out there. Japanese words only have a couple ways to pronounce their vowels. I only speak a little Japanese lol

Re: Japanese Language
Hehe... ^^; I only know a few nouns, and the names of food and mythical creatures.
For instance:
Dragon king = Ryuujin. Cat = Neko. Inu = Dog. Light = Hi, Hiro, Hikari. Spider demon (prostotute spider) = Jorogumo. Takoyaki = Fried octopus dumplings. Etc~
I can't say a single sentence in Japanese though so... My japanese is rather useless except when coming up with names for traditional Japanese story settings... ^//^;

Re: Japanese Language
Lol, my Japanese also only extends as far as spoken/heard (there's a word for that, I'm sure >.<) random nouns etc. from watching too much anime.

Re: Japanese Language
I'm more the same as everyone, just quoting what you learn in anime. After all, you just pick it up after a bit and when stuff's repeated often enough.
OREGA DAREGA OMOITTE RU?!
I give a cookie to who gets that reference.

Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, right~? =3
And I learnt most of mine through anime, too, but 3 years of High School Japanese and 5 months in Japan has helped a lot, especially when it comes to reading and understanding (speaking is still BAD, though)

Re: Japanese Language
Hmm, I don't remember that quote from the show at all, I think you're incorrect. However, all the words used in that quote have been used in famous quotes from TTGL, so it's natural for you to make that guess.Keyhala wrote:Tengen Toppa Gurren-Lagann, right~? =3

Re: Japanese Language
You would mean: 'ore wa ittai dare da to omotteiru??!'
saying 'ore ga dare ga omotteru' isn't correct...'ga' is a particle that indicates the subject of the sentence. saying 'ore ga dare ga omotteru' is like saying 'I who thinking', except it makes no sense. Who's thinking? You, or who? XD
(I'm taking a Japanese class right now! I'd like to think I'm somewhat good...)

It may not be the most "epic" line, but I'm rather found of "Itadakimasu"

Re: Japanese Language
Itadakimasu is awesome! One of my favorite lines which is stuck in my head thanks to Chaos Head is "Sono me, dare no me?"

Re: Japanese Language
Is it just me, or so attacks always sound cooler in the original japanese?
"Lightining Blade!"
"Raikiri!"
I always find myself trying to pronounce skills from the "Tales of" games in their japanese forms, but using the english incantations.
"O righteous will, let fall thy sword of lightning upon those who bear fault... Sandaabureedo!"

Re: Japanese Language
Chidori = One Thousand Birds
Rasengan = Spiraling Sphere
So much Naruto! Are we ganna use the Japanese Language for the show? I keep seeing Yellow calling Red to Red-san, as in Mr. Red.

Re: Japanese Language
Before admins come in and answer that to crush your hopes, I'm gonna crush them first. No.
They don't use honorifics in the english translations of the anime/manga/games, they don't use japanese attack names, so why would we now?

Re: Japanese Language
Well, not the Japanese Attacks. I mean how they keep saying things in the Manga book. Like -san (Mr. or Mrs. from deep or light), -kun (friend).
And the Shitenou means Elite Four. Are we going to dub them in the fan made episode(s)?
