And right after they had that stupid clean up of there "Mature" section, too... (But it's not like they can stop you from reading it the stores either, heh, heh....Mrtweetums wrote:Bad news everyone.
I've recently heard that onemanga will be shutting down by the end of this week.
...what sites are left? Most of the good manga sites are closing up!
You know, it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't put it under the "Viz Kids" titles, cause you know that means there going to end up censoring it to death, dumbing it up for the kiddies. Still, it's not so bad, I like having a physical copy on hand, then you don't have to go back and forth on your computer. Plus compared to most publishers Viz's translations cost less.
I doubt Viz would even care enough to shut this forum down, it's not like Manga is directly being distributed here. At worst they'd ask for the removal of the links to those downloads. Besides, it's not like they're Archie Comics or Anne Rice, I don't think Viz or Pokemon would be so lame as to shut down a non-profit fan-project. (If they did, they'd have to go after all the fan-art and fan-fics out there, I don't think they'd wast the time or money on that, if they haven't already.) So I don't think there's anything to worry about as far as law suits and the forums being shut down.

Re: Manga licensed
I'm surprised. Finding these new sites is like manga wants us to read like there's no manga tomorrow, which is a metaphore. Dabeatmaster123, the site you found is perfect.

This massive wiping out of manga sites/scanlations is temporary folks.
Give it time.

Re: Manga licensed
I was looking though some sites to see if the licenesed versions would atleast be available in stores, and I found this: Pokemon Adventures
Thought it might be of interest. It seems to mean Viz will likely go beyond where the left off last, so it's possible that we'll still be able to find the manga past MATO's vollumes.

Well, Barnes & Nobles. I didn't know people can actually buy the manga from Barnes & Nobles.

Re: Manga licensed
Platinum Arc then volume 1? And it says viz? I'm confused here, VIZ hasn't even finished GSC arc and the japanese volume for platinum arc hasn't even been released yet. Plus if it is platinum arc then why is Dia and Pearl on the cover

Hmm. By Hidenori Kusaka. Since it'll be released on Feb 1, 2011, there's a chance to buy it before the next manga scan sheet is released.
And the way I see, it's just the first volume of PT.
I guess not many people are that happy for not getting USA Manga GSC to Emerald.

Re: Manga licensed
@Red: Really, you didn't? Yeah, so does Boarders. Well if you ever go in to one try asking for the "Graphic Novel" section. Though there selection is limited and from what I've seen, getting worse, but it's there, usably. (But for Pokemon Adventures, they'll probably put it in the kid's section...)
@vidiofan: beats me, I'm just showing what I found. But it does seem odd, I did see the rest on there GSC up there as well, but none of RS, E, or FRLG arks. My guess with the Platinum is what there going to put all the DP ark under. Not that odd, since they've all ready got a Pokemon DP Adventures. Even more so, I find it odd that not even Viz shows these ones. But the logo and set-up of the cover match, so I'm pretty sure it's the real deal. Though, if it were anywhere other then the official site for a company such as Barns&Noble, I'd just have ignore it.

Re: Manga licensed
Well, I'm assuming that they're going to keep releasing the arc in chronological order, (continuing on with the gsc arc, than rse, so forth), AND they're going to be releasing the "platinum arc at the same time.
So, like this.
1. Redgreenblue, goldsilvercrystal, rubysapphire, fireredleafgreen, emerald
2. Diamondpearl, platinum (under platinum)
So they will be releasing them at different periods of time, I assume.
It kinda makes sense I guess...DPP has nothing to do with the rest of the series (until later on of course)
And this way, the fans who've already read gsc, frlg and rse don't have to wait months to finally read the chapters they haven't read (due to the fact that the sites have shut down), and can start reading at the recent chapters, whilst other newcomers can still catch up and read gscrsfrlge.
This is actually a pretty clever business idea. Not only do try capture newcomers, they catch the older fans as well!
I would be all for it, if they didn't shut down the sites (but understandable due to their business strategy)
They're clever, those viz!

Re: Manga licensed
This is no real big problem.
A lot of manga are getting licensed, and it's not safe to download anything right now due to the increased security on these products.
We're just gonna have to rough it and do things the old fashioned way. No biggie.
I have the first 32 volumes on my computer already, so I'm good to go.

I would say that's true...however, unfortunately we broke that in an earlier post...(I understand the reasoning, but...)

I'VE FOUND POKESPE ON THE INTERNET! UP TO 351!
It's at http://manga.animea.net/pokemon-adventures.html so anyone who doesn't have the official volumes download 'em QUICK! You never know when it'll be taken down! Make sure you get the first 40 chapters at least too! (Basically the R/G/B arc).
Hang in there everyone! Especially you Razor-Leaf!

Re: Manga licensed
lol, is it okay if someone downloads them first? (I would love to but my C drive's only left with 5gb... *has a D drive too but pokespe eats up quite a bit of space in no time at all... *) I'll just get from whoever when the time comes for the next episode. (currently only have the 1st 2 chapters on her computer)

Re: Manga licensed
Well everyone seems panicky about it so I just wanted to help...but you could just use a memory card right? Those are usually more than a few GB in size. I guess it just depends whether you want computer space eaten, or your money to Viz to buy those volumes eaten. I've downloaded up from 9-32 because I've got Viz's 2nd edition volumes 1-8. I delete them as I go. Gotta remember which parts Viz edited though, like Blue and Sabrina's fight in vol 3.
Re: Manga licensed
haha, i would love to store them in an external hardisk but they are too expensive for me to buy^^;; (I work in order to get my stuff, both my laptop and tablet are bought with the pay from my part time job) and since I'm currently out of job due to studies, I don't have money to buy one^^;; (I know I could always store them in a cd instead, but... okay I'm lazy<W<;; *shot*)(no excuse for the cd oneXD)

Re: Manga licensed
Heh, well CDs can't really store much anyway so you're forgiven. But you work in order to get your stuff? That's really impressive, I get my funds via a maintance allowance so I can't really spend it on entertainment that much. Anyways, it's probably a good idea anyway for at least all of the staff to have all the Viz volumes so they have references, just in case.
We've gotta be ready after all.
